As we got older Mum took a part time evening job. Carole was in charge to make tea. because it was Autumn and getting 

cold, the fire in the living room was banked up and giving a very warm glow, Suddenly noises came from upstairs. there

was banging as though someone was stamping about, All 5 of us became scared as the front door was locked and we

were all in the living room, again more banging, Graham picked up the poker, Carole had a frying pan I found a piece of wood,

off we went upstairs. the banging had stopped at that moment, Graham in front with the poker. Carole next with the frying pan me with my piece of wood Julia & Gillian following not wanting to be left behind, We reached the top of the stairsand the banging started again.

Chaos ensued. with Graham being first down the stairs followed by Carole, myself Julia and Gillian who unfortunatly was shut

in the hallway as we barracaded the door. screaming it was going to get her. we let her in after having a head count,

And were all cowering near the backdoor when Mum came home. theres a Ghost upstairs we cried,

Mum listened to the banging. turned the Hot water tap on and diverted the heat from the back boiler of the fire,

It was so good to have Mum home,
